The Gala King, Luca Vita
Hi my name is Luca Vita. I am 12 years old. I am really excited to be gala king this year. I live in Corbiehill Gardens with my mum, dad, sister and my two goldfish. I have been part of the Davidsons Mains school football team for 3 years and have also played for Spartans football club for 8 years. I also enjoy judo, swimming and scouts. I run for Edinburgh Athletics Club where I train twice a week and compete at the weekends. I hope this years gala is going to be fantastic like every year and a bit of sunshine would make it perfect.
The Gala Queen, Eleanor Walker Stewart
Hi my name is Eleanor, I am Gala queen this year and I think it is a once in a life time experience. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother (Lauren 14, Alice 9 and Angus 7). I have a fabulous dog called Indy he is ten months old, a Border/Lakeland Terrier and is amazing fun. I am involved in many sports, athletics and swimming I also go to Guides with my friends Hollie, and Catriona. My favourite subjects are PE and Art. The best parts of the gala each year are the food stalls and the Crowning ceremony. This year I think it will be even better because my friends and I are sharing this special chance. I hope you enjoy it as much as I will!
Our Gracious Lady, Rosaly McLauchlan
The Davidson's Mains Gala is a wonderful opportunity for children to have their day at the very centre of our community life. It's for that reason that I'm really pleased to be involved in it this year. We are so fortunate here in Davidson's Mains to have a community which still has its village feel despite being part of a capital city! Within our community there are good schools and children's organisations, with dedicated leadership, and so much that goes on which enriches family life.
There are many things going on around the parish church too which are of benefit to our children and families. I'm a mother (and a grandmother) myself, and over the years I've been privileged to get to know many different local children through the church. There are the activities on a Sunday morning for children of all ages - I'm involved with the pre-schoolers - and there is the Easter holiday club to which so many of our local children look forward each year. Many young families, particularly those with babies and toddlers, drop in during the week for soup, coffee and home baking, enjoying a relaxed, friendly and safe environment for them and their children.
That's what the Gala is about too - giving generations of our children the opportunity to enjoy themselves at the heart of a strong local community. Have fun!

Cara Anderson
Hi my name is Cara Anderson, I'm 11 and I'm in P7A. I was born in Holland and moved to Edinburgh when I was almost 5. I now live with my mum and brother Luke during the week and my dad and my cat Nev at weekends. I go to badminton and on Tuesdays I go to Destination Judo. Finally on a Thursday I go to my favourite club - The Drama Studio. I am very honoured to be in the court and I can't wait for Gala Day.
Sarah Bald
Hi, my name is Sarah Bald. I am eleven years old and live with my mum, dad and older brother Philip. I am in 7B at Davidson's Mains Primary school. My favourite subjects are PE and Maths and I also play the trombone in the school Orchestra. My hobbies are ice-skating and I have entered three competitions and won two third place medals. I also go to Hip Hop and Modern dancing and am taking part in my first show in May. I am looking forward to Gala Day and having all my family come to see me. Gala day will be one of the highlights of my last year at Primary School.
Claire Duncan
Hi, my name is Claire Louise Duncan and I am in P7A at Davidson's Mains Primary School. I was very happy to be elected Head Girl this year and I enjoy helping out at the school. I am very honoured about performing in the Gala and I am always enthusiastic about signing up for anything that gives me a challenge or anything that I think would be fun. I have lived in Davidson's Mains all my life, and live with my Mum Jacqui, my Dad David and my older brother Scott who is in S3 at the Royal High School. Scott was also in the Gala Court in 2006 so I am happy to follow in his footsteps. My hobbies include playing tennis at Barnton Park LTC and playing instruments like the guitar and recorder. I go to guitar lessons on a Saturday morning and I play recorder on a Monday after school. I am very thrilled to be part of the Davidson's Mains Gala 2009 and will try my best to make it the best Gala EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lydia Dunmore
Hi, my name is Lydia Dunmore and I am 11 yrs old. I am in Miss Bakers class 7a at D. mains. I'm thrilled to be in the gala this year and screamed when I got told. I live with my mum Janette, my brother Fraser, 9 yrs(P4b), my guinea pig Bonny and my 2 fish. I see my dad every week and my other brother Adam (2yrs) and stay over there once a fortnight. I play the violin and my hobbies include drama,singing, dancing, sports etc. I cant wait for the gala and hope it's a sunny warm day!
Ellie McGinty
Hi my name is Ellie McGinty and I am 13 years old. I am in P7A at Davidson's Mains Primary School. I live with my mum, dad and two big sisters Jodi and Emma. I have a dog called Sam and a cat called Oscar. I am really looking forward to going to the Royal High as my sisters and my 3 cousins go there but I am not looking forward to all the homework. In my spare time I go to athletics and my favourite events are high jump, long jump and hurdles. I also enjoy going to guides, swimming, going on my trampoline and hanging out with my friends. I am so pleased that I am in the gala court and I am looking forward to the gala day.

Hi my name is Rebecca Nisbet and I am 12 Years old. I live in Silverknowes with my little brother Ross, little sister Claire and my Mum and Dad. I love animals. I have a pet cat, hamster and two goldfish. My hobbies are playing badminton and doing arts and craft. I am really looking forward to this years gala.

Sean Cockburn
Hi, my name is Sean Cockburn. I go to Davidson's Mains Primary School in Primary 7C, soon to go to Royal High School, my teacher is Mrs Davidson. I always have, and hopefully always will, lived in Silverknowes but my current location is in Silverknowes Drive. Unlike most competitive swimming is my main sport and my medal collection is continuing to grow. I live with my Mum and Dad, Lisa and Scott, my little brother, Fraser, and my dog, Hogan.
Calum Cowan
Hi my name is Calum Cowan and I am 12 years old. I live in Silverknowes Gardens with my Mum, Shona, my dad John and my brother Zander. I have a dog called Lucy. My hobbies include football and I play for the school football team and Spartans Football Club. I go to Scouts and really enjoy it. I also like swimming and hanging out with my friends. I am really looking forward to being part of the gala this year especially the food in the VIP tent !
Andrew Fraser
Hi my name is Andrew Fraser, I have three sisters called Katie, Erin and Rhona, and I have two black Labradors called Jura and Kera. I like skiing, swimming and most of all judo. I'm in P7B and my favourite food is definitely pizza! I also go to scouts and I have a blue belt in judo, which will soon be black! I am thrilled to be in this year's gala court and I am sure this will be the best gala yet!
Craig McKerchar
Hi, my name is Craig McKerchar and I'm 11 years old. I go to Davidson's Mains primary school and I live in Edinburgh. My hobbies include football drumming and boxing which are great fun. I have a mum a dad a brother and a big white hairy German shepherd called Zooshka. Next year I am going to the Royal High which will be great fun. In football I support Hibernian FC and Liverpool who are o.k teams. I can't wait until the gala and I'm so happy to be a courtee member. Being part of the gala was really fun and it was a great experience.

Hello, my name is Callum McNie. I am 11 years old and I have lived in Davidson's Mains my whole life. I live with my mum, dad, my sister Catherine and my cat, Corrie. My hobbies include football, free running, cross country running and researching on computers. I applied for the Gala court because I thought that it would be interesting to get involved. This is a great honour.
Struan Robertson
Hi my name is Struan, I am 12 years old and have lived in Silverknowes all my life. I have a big brother James and a big sister Catherine who are both at the Royal High. My hobbies are football, judo, swimming, skiing and scouts. I enjoy going out to play with all my friends. I love skiing and snowboarding and wish it snowed more often so I could do it more often. I have been skiing since I was three and I am quite good at it. I play football for Spartans and the undefeated Davidsons Mains Primary school team.
